Two Scoundrels
The Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, is given credit for the following phrase, which seems to have eternal life: “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all of the time.”
In this election cycle, the Democratic Party has nominated for president a man who, after serving a short but eventful time as a naval officer of the United States, spent the years following, first by willfully, publicly and viciously denigrating the comrades with whom he had served, and followed this with his almost 20 years of useless service in the United States Senate.
Then, Democrats nominated for vice president a man who was elected to serve the people of his state as a United States senator, but instead ignored his constituency and spent his term serving himself in an attempt to get the nomination of his party for president. These two scoundrels deserve each other, but the American people deserve neither!
In what way, if they are elected, could we expect them to change their spots when even leopards cannot change their spots? Will they become statesmen, serving effectively and unselfishly in their offices for the sole benefit of the American people? For those who might believe this, they must think that all of the people can be fooled all of the time! Electing these two charlatans to the offices they seek will be a self-inflicted disaster for the American public.
Vote for George W. Bush and Dick Cheney come November!
