Silver Foils Enjoy Annual Luncheon
The Silver Foils had its annual summer “Dutch Treat” luncheon in the Member’s Club at Pinehurst Country Club on Tuesday, Aug. 31. Eighty-two Silver Foils attended, including 13 life and associate members.
Life members Mary Gundry, Peg Kirkpatrick, Ruth Lawrence, Irene O’Neill and Louise Shaw participated in the annual putting contest. Ehren Ling, golf professional, laid out an “innovative” putting course in the lobby, and after a number of ties, Mary Gundry was first with Ruth Lawrence the runner-up.
The luncheon, featuring citrus melon with crème fraishe, Asian chicken salad and fruit tartlets, was arranged by Nan Wood, hospitality chairman, as were the table decorations. The flower pots holding the centerpieces were painted by Silver Foil Courtney Herndon.
“We are delighted that Peggy Kirk Bell, an honorary Silver Foil, attended the luncheon,” said a spokesman. “Matt Massei, director of golf at Pinehurst Country Club, was the guest speaker. He gave us an update on some of the new hole changes and other upgrades to the No. 6 golf course, which is now scheduled to be reopened in February 2005, and the latest news and some statistics regarding the upcoming June 2005 Open here at Pinehurst.”
Prizes for several of the Silver Foils’ major tournaments were presented to the winners by prize chairman Nell deGroot and her assistant, Nancy See. |
