S.P. Store Celebrates Second Anniversary
If antiques are your bag, don’t miss the Rose Cottage’s second anniversary celebration in historic downtown Southern Pines. The Rose Cottage is on Pennsylvania Avenue in the old Belvedere Hotel. A fitting location for the store that’s practically made of memories, the Belvedere is a restored building that lends itself to the charm and ambience of the Rose Cottage experience. Walk into Rose Cottage on any given day, and amidst the sight of old French paintings, antique glassware, china and furniture, you’ll hear Frank Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald softly playing on the radio. Continue through the doorway and notice the scents of Cake Candles, flanked by dishes of candy. Rose Cottage has managed to create a respite from the outdoor world if even for a moment. “We’re really excited to share this special place with our regular customers and to introduce the Cottage to visitors who don’t know us,” said Manager Keri Morris. Morris and her family began the shop two years ago when daughter Keri relocated to the Moore County area from Chicago. “We’re from Florida, but we love the Sandhills and surrounding areas,” said Diane Morris. “We’re truly delighted to be in this charming area where there is so much history.” The entire family participates in equestrian activities, and the shop features a wide variety of antique equestrian objects. Rose Cottage specializes in china, crystal, sterling, equestrian items, linens, estate jewelry, pottery, books, European and American furniture, unique findings and collectibles. They also sell items on E-bay and have a tremendous turnaround of objects given to them to sell. Rose Cottage will have refreshments, balloons, fresh flowers and special sales throughout Labor Day weekend to celebrate its anniversary from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Saturday, Sept. 4. For more information, the phone number is 692-9938.
