Pinecrest Girls Finish Third In League Golf

The Pinecrest girls' golf team came in third for the third week in a row in a Mid-Southeastern Conference match played at Richmond Pines Wednesday afternoon.

In a match postponed from Monday because of rain, the Patriots' Rebecca Calderara shot a career best high school round of 83.

Whitney Wright of first place Richmond was the medalist with a 77.

Other top finishers were Shannon Smith, Scotland, 78, Leigh Ann Barringer, Richmond, 80 and Lauren Harling, Scotland and Calderara 83.

Others figuring in the Pinecrest team score were Amy Brazaski, 100, Jessica Johnson, 101, and Sara Cole, 104.

Pinecrest hosts its first conference match of the season Monday at Pinehurst No. 8 beginning at 2 p.m.

Richmond won the event with a four-player score of 334, while Scotland finished second with a 378 total. After Pinecrest’s third-place total of 388 came Jack Britt with a 442.

Lumberton with a 444, Westover rounded out the field.
