The resolution also expresses support for the president and his national security team.
Adopted at a Monday night meeting, the resolution was prepared by the National Association of Counties, which recommended adoption by all member counties.
“These cowardly acts were by far the deadliest terrorist attacks ever launched against the United States, and, by targeting symbols of American strength and success, clearly were intended to intimidate our nation and weaken its resolve,” the resolution says.
The resolution notes that thousands of innocent persons were killed and injured in these attacks and recommends support for such relief efforts as blood donations.
“These horrific events have affected all Americans. It is important that we carry on with the regular activities of our lives,” the resolution says. “Terrorism cannot be allowed to break the spirit of the American people, and the best way to show these cowards that they have truly failed is for the people of the United States and their counties to stand tall and proud.”
The resolution condemns “the cowardly and deadly actions of these terrorists,” offers support to the president and his national security team in defending against additional attacks, and urges them to find the perpetrators and “bring them to justice.”
The resolution was adopted as part of the board’s consent agenda.
