Let’s see now. We are The Pilot and we live in a nice very quiet community that doesn’t generate enough news to support an expanding paper. What to do? Let’s generate some news — lets start a fight.

The way to do that is to hit somebody. How about St. Joseph of the Pines? They just had to shut down some health facilities because they were losing money as the government withdrew Medicaid support. But that move makes sense, and you can’t blame St. Joseph.

But wait, right next door is Belle Meade, built and owned by St. Joseph, a beautiful retirement center now housing primarily veterans, including widows and widowers, from World War II…Also, because these Belle Meade people have accomplished something in their lives, they are not on welfare. Good, that allows us to call them wealthy.

That’s it! All of St. Joseph is wealthy, not paying taxes and abandoning the needy. Now we can get some news going in this quiet community, and it ties in with our beliefs that the government should do more by taxing more. Now we have a great story. Print it!
