N.C. Symphony Returns to Moore Tuesday
The Moore County Chapter of the North Carolina Symphony celebrates 50 years of symphony concerts in the Sandhills and a new acoustical shell with this season’s concerts.
The next concert features Donna Jolly, piano, William Henry Curry, conductor and Kimberly Van Pelt, horn on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The rest of the season includes a concert on Thursday, Oct. 12, Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, Thursday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, March 20.
The symphony also performs a popular holiday pops concert, which is separate from the Moore County series, on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. at the Pinehurst Resort.
All concerts, with the exception of the separate event for the Thanksgiving Eve pops, are at the Pinecrest High School Robert E. Lee Auditorium at 8 p.m. Sponsors indicate a limited number of season tickets ($55 and $70) are still available.

Lions Club Barbecue and Bake Sale
The Pinebluff Lions Club will hoste a Barbecue and Bake Sale, take-out only, on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Lions Club House, 165 West Philadelphia Avenue, with lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and supper from 5-7 p.m.
The club will also sale their trademark brooms ($4.50, $6.50 and $7.50) as well as the Pinebluff Lions Cookbook ($10).
Tickets purchased for the barbecue supper are $6 and also serve as a chance for a drawing for a $50 savings bond.

School Fairs
Vass-Lakeview
Vass Lakeview Elementary School will host a bingo and hot dog supper/fall festival on Friday, Sept. 29 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Game tickets are a quarter each and hot dog supper prices vary from $2-2.50 per plate.
Funds raised will benefit the school.
Sandhills Farm Life
The annual fall festival at Sandhills Farm Life Elementary School from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 6. Bingo, games, Cake Walk and a fun house are all part of the fun. Pizza, hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones and more will be served. We will raffle off two Diamond Back bikes — tickets are $1. All welcome.
