The North Moore High School volleyball team defeated Northwood High School for the second time this season Thursday night, 15-9, 16-14, 12-15, 15-7 in a match played at Robbins.
In the first game Northwood had difficulty returning service, as the Mustangs won seven of the first eight points on their serves. North Moore won the first game handily, 15-7. The second game proved to be a tougher contest, however, as the Chargers came back to tie the score at 14-all. The Mustangs prevailed again and won the game 16-14.
Northwood showed that they were still very much in the match, as they won the third game 15-12, and they took an early 5-0 lead in the fourth game. Trailing by a score of 7-5, the Mustangs came back to take 10 consecutive points to win the final game 15-7.
“Faith Fletcher really helped us with her serving in that last game,” Mustang coach Rodney Garner said after the match. “These were good volleyball games. The girls played well together, but they have to talk to each other more.”
The Mustangs record is now 4-3, while the Chargers record fell to 1-5. North Moore plays at Southwest Randolph on Tuesday.
