Our neighborhood did itself proud with the Monday evening Deb-A-Thon Leukemia Fund-Raiser in tribute to Deb Gregor, now a patient at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Amid all of today’s fussing about war, terrorism, taxes and the poor economy, it was heartwarming to see Southern Pines take time to block off a street and competitive chefs pool resources as scores of us well-wishers flocked with funds to help cheer Deb in her struggle.
