Career Week a Success

The students of Southern Middle School had an exciting treat when the faculty organized a Career Week for eighth-grade pupils. We held a titanic celebration after the end-of-grade tests by connecting the schools, children and community with speakers, artists and entertainers, and we had great refreshments.

The purpose of Career Week was to introduce students to different opportunities for their futures. It was very successful. Southern Middle School eighth-graders thank the following for their participation in Career Week:

Joey Rorie of the Aberdeen Fire Department; Billy Forbis of Billy’s Music World; Brian Phillips, principal of Carthage Elementary School; Brenda Cassady, principal of Elise Middle School; Alan Beck of First Bank; Kathy Batton and Tom Smith of FirstHealth of the Carolinas; Elizabeth Garner; Michael Metcalf, principal of Southern Middle School; Ron Alexander, principal pf Pinecrest High School; Sharon Shelton, guidance counselor at Pinecrest; Paul Murphy of Pinecrest; Adam Crocker of the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department; David White of the Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department; TCBY; and all the individuals and speakers who made this possible.

Thank you. You have made a difference.
