Cartoon Was Sickening
The cartoon implying President Bush’s visit to our sailors was a photo op and re-election ploy is sickening. He ordered those men and women into war and was their commander-in-chief. It was completely appropriate for him to welcome them home.
In 1997, I sat through a speech delivered to the families and graduating class of the United States Military Academy by William J. Clinton. No disrespect was shown to him by the people in attendance. The members of the class he addressed are paying the people of the United States back for their education and trust by leading our Army troops in the war against terrorism. Their commander-in-chief at the time dishonored the terms of his ROTC scholarship, demonstrated against the war in Vietnam and by his own words “loathes the military.” Am I missing something?
Our president is doing a good job, and it is past time for us to lay aside politics and really support the troops. The president deserves our full support. He is not the first sitting president to visit troops during wartime, and I pray should more wars occur, our president, regardless of party, will pay the appropriate respects to them upon their return.
I pray that we will have moved beyond the partisan line displayed in this cartoon.
