J.B. Oldham Sr., 82, of Bear Creek died Wednesday (Oct. 9, 2002) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Antioch Christian Church, 246 Antioch Christian Church Road, Bear Creek with the Rev. Clark Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Oldham was a native of Chatham County and a retired sawmill operator and farmer. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church where he served as church trustee.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Phillips Oldham; sons, J.B. “Monk” Oldham Jr. and Robert L. “Shorty” Oldham, both of Bear Creek; stepsons, Mike Phillips of Carthage, Jimmy Phillips of Charlotte and Billy Phillips of Bear Creek; brothers, John L. Oldham and Eugene F. Oldham, both of Bear Creek; sisters, Grace O. Dowdy and Frances O. Johnson, both of Bear Creek, Mable O. Lemons of Pittsboro, Gladys O. Womble of Sanford and Inez O. Dowd of Siler City; five grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
