Public Transit Needed

Americans reap benefits from public transportation. Southern Moore County would reap benefits if we had our own system.

A small 14-passenger bus (plus a chairlift for handicapped) could relieve many parking spaces for cars and commercial trucks, conserve energy and help preserve the environment.

The role of public transportation is to benefit everyone, especially those who cannot or do not wish to drive, those who are handicapped, the aging population, and youth who attend high school or community college.

Much thought would be given to the route and stops along the way. Public input is important. Anyone majoring in transportation in college, and those familiar with the Department of Transportation and federal grants are welcomed and encouraged to contact Lyman Hall (295-1304).

Getting around our three towns could be improved for many people and would be a welcome improvement to our bulging population.
