Glynn a Turncoat

Tia Wallman’s recent letter advocated Jack Glynn’s re-election to the Pinehurst Village Council, stating, “He put the interest of the village above his own personal power, and we need his experience and integrity.”

Four years ago Jack Glynn ran for Village Council along with two other candidates. All three won in a landslide. The Fayetteville Observer reported on Dec. 11, 1997, “Glynn split from his two running mates and joined the incumbent opposition to elect Virginia Fallon as mayor and Glynn as mayor pro-tem.” Several residents accused Glynn of turning his back on the people who elected him.

The Pilot on Dec. 11, 1997, headlined a story with, “Glynn Deserts Newcomer Bloc, Wins Election as Mayor Pro Tem.” The article stated, “Virginia Fallon won election as mayor of Pinehurst by a 3-2 vote Wednesday after a stormy session that saw Glynn desert his two fellow newcomers to vote for Fallon and get elected as mayor pro-tem.”

I am not claiming Glynn is not a man of integrity. I am just reporting a small sample of reports in the press after Glynn was elected.
