Click-It a Clip Job
I was stopped twice during the Click It or Ticket campaign. Being a law-abiding citizen, I didn’t receive a ticket. But my right to travel has been trampled.
When are people going to realize that this program has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with raising revenue? School systems budget millions of dollars to come from traffic tickets. These tickets are costly to the citizenry due to lost work time, insurance rate increases, court costs and fines.
It sickens me that our police force, instead of protecting us from violent offenders, is out harassing the public –– the guy on his way to work, the mom taking the kids to soccer practice. Cops are no longer peace officers but law-enforcement officers. There’s no money to be made in keeping the peace.
With freedom and liberty come personal responsibility. I wear my seatbelt for my safety, not because the government says I have to.
So, to Joe Parker, director of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, I say, Stick it!
