Delayed Response

The article in last Friday’s Pilot about the dog, Hope, that was found tied up with no food and water really broke my heart. But what is really sad is that Animal Control didn’t respond to the call for three days, claiming to be so backed up on calls with only three officers.

On Saturday at the Animal Fair in Carthage, Julie Bryant was there representing the county with several volunteers and animals for adoption. There were also two animal control officers there just hanging around. If they are so backed up on calls, what were they doing there? I went to the facility several months ago to get some information and there were at least two officers sitting in the building.

I have sympathy for the animals in need but not for the supposed shortage of officers and their great work load.
