In the past few weeks there has been no rebuttal to the prospect of the election of a minority candidate under the proposed change of the Pinehurst Village Charter to permit direct election of a mayor.

A change to the charter is not easily undone. It will become long-term policy. Don’t put a system in place that will beget more complex and expensive political campaigning. Aren’t there enough words floating around right now?
