If that is so, the senator should quit reminding us of all the people who are without health care. No one in this country goes without health care.
When I was working in Chicago I was surprised to learn that 15 to 20 percent of our employees would go to the emergency room and tell them they had no insurance, when they did. This completely confounded me, but then I was advised that this group did not want to pay the 20 percent share of the bill they would have had to pay had they gone to their doctor’s office.
We do not need more entitlement programs, regardless of how well intended they might be. Give us tax credits for the medical expenses we may expend. I do realize that there are people in our society who need help and we should help those cases. But we don’t need more government programs, just tax relief. More programs equal more taxes, and I’m at my limit.
Medicare is being carried on the backs of our doctors. Over the years, Medicare has reduced the fees that doctors can charge, but Medicare personnel and Congress got their increases. Whenever government takes over any part of our economy they control it to the detriment of all participants.
