Bad Program Scheduling

I appreciate Public Television and have contributed to it since its inception. However, in recent years I have become disenchanted with UNC-TV. They seem to be more interested in their own agenda and local programming than in excellent programs supplied by PBS.

In March they are showing a “Metropolitan Opera Presents” and a “Live from Lincoln Center” after midnight and replacing them in prime time with repetitions of programs very recently aired. These PBS programs will probably never be repeated on PBS. It is grossly unfair for UNC-TV to relegate them to the graveyard shift.

In Charlotte as part of their Basic Service ($8.51 per month), Time-Warner provides three PBS channels, WTVI-42 from Charlotte, WNSC-30 from South Carolina, as well as WUNG-58 (UNC-TV). Even though WTVI-42 and WNSC-30 are having pledge activities, they are still airing these important PBS programs in prime time along with the rest of the nation.

I have asked Mr. Terry Palmiter, local general manager for Time Warner, to provide Pinehurst-Southern Pines with another PBS channel, so that we can watch and support PBS other than on UNC-TV. I urge readers that agree with me to make a similar request.
