I am not a hunter. I am not a meat eater. I choose to be a vegetarian. I personally am not against hunting. I have done the research and know that when hunting is done properly by responsible individuals, the sport actually benefits the deer population as a whole.
I have listened as ill-informed folks talked of their disgust at deer hunting, all the while knowing that in their homes, their refrigerators and freezers were filled with meat.
I don’t believe anyone asked the chickens, cows and pigs if they were OK with being born into a short life of confinement and eventual death without ever experiencing freedom.
Is it better on any of those creatures if the “Big Man” that ends their life does it as a job or a hobby?
I don’t choose to be the cause of any animal’s death, but I respect the rights of others to make their own decision. After all, if it is important to consider the deer’s feelings I ask you to consider the feelings of all edible beasts.
