I am writing in response to the letter to the editor by Dave Edmunds of Pinehurst, who contended that U.S. Sen. John Edwards had forgotten the interests of North Carolina.

I am a member of John Edwards’ constituency, and I think he is doing a great job. Edwards was right on target with his votes on both Clinton and Ashcroft. I have been watching him carefully to see if he is strong enough to stand on his own two feet and vote for what he thinks is best for our country. We worked hard to get him there, and I hope he stays there for many years.

Washington is where his future is and where he can use his knowledge and expertise to guide us in the right direction. We need to go forward and not backward.
