More Taxes, More Government

On June 26, The Pilot announced that U.S. Sens. John Edwards and Mike DeWine had introduced a bill, the Nurturing Special Kids Act. There is no mention of how they plan to pay for this kind and compassionate expression of concern.

Former Gov. Jim Hunt will probably offer his support. State Sen. Ellie Kinnaird will propose an increase of the taxes on alcohol and tobacco to provide funds.

The government will hire another 5,000 people to collect and distribute the taxes to support the program. The mother will insist she would prefer to care for the child herself. However, due to the high taxes her husband pays, she is forced to seek employment.

Womble Carlyle will be retained. The village of Pinehurst, Moore County, and any government agency must have legal representation to be certain they comply with current regulations.
