The attacks on Dr. Robert Martin are unfair. I don’t know Dr. Martin on a personal basis, but he operated on both my wife and me. He has built a beautiful, landscaped building on Midland Road and brings to us a medical facility that is outstanding. He is also a businessman who owns property that he is entitled to sell without harassment from us.

I am retired and have lived in Pinehurst for 14 years. I do not have any vested interest in this situation. We need business growth for jobs in the Sandhills or we will look like some of the communities that we drive through in North Carolina that do not show any signs of progress and prosperity.

If a development off Midland Road is done back off the road behind the trees and landscaped it will be an asset rather than a liability to the community. Rather than attack the good doctor, perhaps letters are needed to do something about the abandoned building that was formerly Leavern’s Fuel Oil Company that has been an eyesore for a long time.
