Moratorium Is Overdue

I want to express my sincere appreciation of the very succinct opinions of Dick Bisbe and Richard Davis, who best addressed our really grave growth problems in the Pinehurst area.

The builders in Pinehurst have not contributed one dime to the solution of our water and sewer problems. Of course they do not want a moratorium on building. It kills the golden goose that they have created. The area is overbuilt and overdue for a moratorium.

Having served on the Appearance Committee, I found it to be very poor at controlling non–compliance builders. The committee is limited to non–enforceable controls because there is no established building code for the village. One sure way for a builder to obtain a building permit is to threaten a lawsuit against the village. The village acquiesces and the builder wins.

Remember the sign litigation? The builders started this ridiculous lawsuit and then backed off and let the Realtors take the beating.

Let the builders finally back up their supposed love of our community and invest their profits in the area.
