Security Blankets

The Sandhills/Moore County Chapter of Project Linus is 2 years old.

The aim of Project Linus is to provide security through blankets to children who are critically ill, abused, traumatized or have special needs. These blankets may be knitted, crocheted, quilted (by hand or machine) or tied. The blankets must be washable.

Our first delivery of blankets, made by the women of Moore County, was in March 1999. Since then, we have delivered 545 blankets to Moore Regional Hospital, 175 to Friend to Friend, 183 to Guardian Ad Litem, 252 to the Sandhills Children’s Center, 66 to the EMS vehicles in the county, 65 to the Sandhills-Moore Coalition for Human Care, and 63 to the Sandhills Interfaith Hospitality Network. Seventy-two blankets were taken to Greenville for the aid of Hurricane Floyd victims. Five blankets were given to individual children.

If you would like to help this completely volunteer organization with a donation of yarn, fabric (at least one yard), money or your talents, please contact me at 673-9481.
