Village Within a Village

I have noticed in The Pilot some reference to and speculation about the small Addor community, which was found on the Seaboard Airline Railway track south of Pinebluff.

I may be able to provide some historical information which may clear up apparent misconceptions.

It was a delight for my mother to drive us children down there on a Sunday afternoon.

The buildings there were very neat and clean, but there was no house paint in evidence.

There was, however, a village within the village which was beautifully painted and decorated, but of miniature scale, about one foot in 15.

This meticulously crafted Swiss town was set up between the street and the residence of Mr. Addor, a native of Switzerland, the proud builder. He was able to pull some strings to ring all the church bells in concert. I believe that his given name was either Louis or Felix. Perhaps my mother enjoyed this outing more than we children, since we were not allowed into the tiny streets.

The wonderful Troutman family down there may give you more useful information.
