Born and raised in Moore County, Barrett is a graduate of UNC Pembroke and received his doctorate from Campbell University. He taught in Moore County and completed his service to the children of Moore County as principal of Cameron Elementary School. He continued his service by being elected to the Moore County Board of Education and serving as the vice-chairman of the board for two years.
He currently serves as president of the North Carolina Officials Association and is now starting his 34th year of officiating high school football and basketball.
His work as a teacher and principal has trained him to help pupils, parents and teachers solve problems. He will do the same for the people of Moore County. He is a consensus builder, something our Board of Commissioners desperately needs.
