Contributor Thurman advocated suspending the first amendment rights of Dunn and The Pilot since they disagree with his position. Writer Korver in a similar vein takes off on Dunn’s pervasive Bush bashing. But while I agree that Dunn can overdo it, he is correct in suggesting that the Israeli Likud Party positions is overly represented by the likes of Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz in the Bush administration.
Contributor Irby mistakenly attacks Dunn as an anti-Semite. Anti-Semitism applies to discrimination against Jews as a religious group. It would not pertain to Dunn’s opposition to the state of Israel and its policies. Personally I’ve read Dunn for four years and I don’t see him as an anti-Semite. Dunn has consistently supported a balanced Middle East policy. What is the objective of the United States, Israel and the whole world? An end to terrorism.
Neither the United States nor Israel is militarily threatened. Israel’s final military threat in the region has just been flattened. Has the hegemony of the United States and Israel reduced terrorism since it first emerged in 1972 in Munich? I think not. Terrorism is rampant.
I don’t pretend to have a clue on how to end terrorism. I do sense, however, that we have reached a point where we must find a way before it all spins out of control. Why not try a road not yet traveled? The alternative of subjugating 1.2 billion Muslims would seem a daunting task.
