Recently, Andy Thomas, a columnist writing for The Pilot, decided to get involved with our local politics. He managed to trash the entire council by giving them his most generous grade of “D.”

Andy gets our grade of “F” for his assertions that this current group of council members are worse than the ones they replaced. What a short memory Andy has. Anyone living in Pinehurst for the past 10 years and who was aware of the acrimonious relationship between earlier councils and Pinehurst Inc. would strongly disagree with Thomas.

We specifically believe that the two council members running for re-election have spent thousands of hours of their time and have brought enormously valuable experience to our village. On the whole, they have performed admirably. Our community is fortunate that they are willing to take on another term to complete some of the plans that have been set in motion.

Lorraine Tweed and Doug Lapins are among the highest-qualified people we know. They are both worthy of your vote and should be applauded for their willingness to shoulder some of the very complex civic issues on the horizon.
