Robert Page Featured At First MCHA Lecture

CONTRIBUTED

The Moore County Historical Association plans several lectures during the coming season.

Robert N. Page III, an Aberdeen attorney, will open the first lecture on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Civic Center in Southern Pines.

A lifelong resident of Aberdeen, Page will talk about his town and the county in earlier years. A 1939 graduate of Aberdeen High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and its law school in 1948, Page’s education was interrupted by service in the Army Air Corp during World War II with the B-29s bombing Japan. He participated in the last mission of the war.

He served twice as mayor of Aberdeen and happened to be serving exactly 100 years after his grandfather began his term as the first mayor.

“The public is invited to the lecture,” said a spokesman.
