Intelligent Design
Several Pilot writers have recently commented on ÒIntelligent Design (ID),Ó a hot topic in popular and scientific circles. I hope readers understand that some scientists say ID is gaining momentum as an alternative theory to Darwinian (macro) evolution.
All who wish to know more about the ID controversy are invited to attend a meeting at The Village Chapel of Pinehurst. The church, as part of its fall/winter Christian education series, invites the public to attend an ID discussion meeting, including a DVD presentation, at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7, in the fellowship hall. The DVD, ÒUnlocking the Mystery of Life,Ó uses computer animation to visit the inside of a living cell to explore systems and ÒmachineryÓ bearing the unmistakable hallmarks of design.
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia on the Internet, defines ÒIDÓ as Òthe controversial assertion that certain features of the universe and of living things exhibit the characteristics of a product resulting from an intelligent cause or agent, not an undirected process such as natural selection.Ó
The Village Chapel also plans to present an 11-lesson, Monday night Creationism series entitled ÒIn the Beginning.Ó Dates will be announced for this series slated to begin in January.
If interested in attending the ID presentation, please call the church office at 295-6003 by Friday, Nov. 4, to register.
