“The Friday night event is free and open to the public,” says a spokesman.
The evening also kicks off the Network’s 20th Annual Fall Conference.
Members of The N.C. Women’s Prison Writing and Performance Project will present dramatic stories and songs starting at 6:30 p.m.
At 7 p.m. the Triangle-based band, “When Cousins Marry,” once described by The Independent Weekly as “clean cut, reasonably well behaved and cheap,” will perform original tunes and rock classics.
Acclaimed novelist, poet, and nonfiction author Reynolds Price will give an interview-styled keynote address at 8 p.m. His long-time friend and former student, Jeff Anderson, will conduct the interview. A book signing follows.
There will be a cash bar, bookstore, vendor tables and film screening.
For more information, contact the Network (919) 967-9540 or visit www.ncwriters.org.
Those who wish to attend the weekend conference, which offers tracks in fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, playwriting, marketing, and children’s book writing, may register at www.ncwriters.org/programs/conferences/fall/.
A $250 fee covers lunch and dinner on Saturday, admission to all readings, tuition for five classes, open mike sessions, performances, and more. The non-member rate is $350. Discounted hotel room rates are available to conference attendees.
