Pinecrest Plans SYSL Recognition for Tonight

Youth soccer players get a special treat tonight when the Pinecrest High School soccer team recognizes Sandhills Youth Soccer League with SYSL Night.

SYSL Recreation, Challenge and Classic players are invited to come see the Patriot varsity and jayvee squads take on Wilson Fike High School. Players who wear their SYSL team jersey will be admitted free.

A special part of SYSL Night will be a donation station to collect used soccer gear. Caleb Miles, a senior on the Pinecrest varsity, is coordinating a drive to collect all types of used soccer equipment. The effort is part of a humanitarian program to provide basic soccer supplies to youth in undeveloped nations.

Gently used cleats, shinguards, balls, goalkeeper gloves and other soccer gear can be contributed at the collection point. The evening would not be complete without food. Patriot soccer parents will man the concession stand featuring pizza, popcorn, and other treats.

So bring the family, bring your old soccer gear and enjoy an evening of soccer, food and fun with the Patriots and SYSL. The jayvee match begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 7 p.m.
