CONTRIBUTED

Dr. Mark E. Brenner of the Pinehurst Surgical Clinic Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Center has received notification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery that he has passed the 2004 recertification examination.

Board certification indicates satisfactory completion of a difficult examination above and beyond surgical residency training programs. Only a few medical specialties require recertification.

With medical knowledge advancing so rapidly, the recertification examination allows the surgeon to validate the is continuing his medical education for new surgical knowledge and treatments.

Brenner received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, N.Y.

His residency was completed at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center and Affiliated Hospitals. He then completed a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship from the University Of Washington School Of Medicine, Seattle, Wash.

Brenner joined the Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Center in 1988. He is vice president of the North Carolina Hand Association.
