Vote, Please

Running unopposed is indeed a compliment. However, there is a downside. With or without an important referendum, voter turnout has a tendency to be very light.

A key element to managing the future of the village of Pinehurst is ownership of the water and sewer system.

False, misleading, inaccurate information from a number of sources is finding its way into our homes via e-mail, newspapers, expensive mailing pieces, telephone “polls” and local radio. The voter is entitled to the facts and it is incumbent upon those who have an opinion on the issue to give the voting public just that; as a concerned citizen demand that they provide support for their statements.

If you were unable to attend any of the information sessions presented by Village Council’s Water Committee, a wealth of information is available at Village Hall in the form of such things as pro forma financial documents and the purchase agreement itself.

I have studied the water and sewer issue very closely for four years. The facts lead me to one conclusion — the village should own the system. I am confident that if you are in possession of the facts, you will reach the same conclusion.

Please vote “yes” on the referendum issue. The results of the Nov. 4 election will impact our town for decades to come.
