The Falcons finished 13 points ahead of second place Cresset Academy. Freshman Andy Wacker took top honors with a course record time of 16:48 and was named Triad Runner of the Year.
Falcon Senior Brandon Thompson was third in a personal record time of 17:44. He was named to the all-conference team for the third year in a row.
The O’Neal girls came in third behind Westchester Academy and Cavalry Baptist. Seventh-grader Brittany Thompson led the Falcons, finishing fourth with a personal record time of 22:37.
The team results for the boys had O’Neal with 42 points followed by Cresset 55, Oak Ridge Military Academy 71, Westchester 116, Cavalry Baptist 127 and Carolina Friends 179.
Also placing for the Falcons were seventh-grader Blakely Smith, 10th (18:41), freshman Greg Doughty, 13th (19:08), and sophomore Jared McDaniel, 14th (19:15).
Other Falcon runners with strong performances were Will McIlwain, an eighth-grader, 15th (19:17) and seventh-grader Coby Chavis, 16th (19:24). The times for Wacker, Thompson, Smith, Doughty and Chavis were personal records.
Westchester finished with 24 points in the girls’ competition followed by Cavalry Baptist with 57 and O’Neal with 72.
The individual winner for the girls was Abbey Harrison of Westchester with a time of 21:88. Also scoring for O’Neal were eighth-grader Caroline Cordell, 12th (23:57), freshmen co-captains Marie O’Donnell, 15th (25:08) and Katie Terry, 20th (27:43), and freshman Kara Thomas, 21st (25:09).
Also performing well for the O’Neal girls was seventh-grader Kelly Fowler, 23rd (28:38).
The times for Brittany Thompson, who was named to the all-conference team, and all of the Falcon girls were personal records.
