Metcalf Speaks to MCRA Organization

The program at the recent Moore County Reading Association meeting featured guest speaker Tracy Metcalf who spoke to the topic of Language Arts integration in the Social Studies curriculum. An interesting NCRA video featured authors who spoke of their enthusiasm for writing and encouraged all people to engage in the often reflective obsession called writing. The Young Author writing contest is in progress in Moore County Schools.

Each Young Author is encouraged to write to the theme “Places To Travel,” and should submit his or her own literary composition to the classroom teacher by Oct 16.

The next meeting will be held at Mr. B’s in Carthage at 6:30 pm on Nov. 3.

Linda Hardison, who is the government relations chairperson, will address Reading Association global initiatives as well as legislation in both State and National governments.

The meetings are open to the public.
