UP Stage Presents ‘Kindergarten’
The curtain will raise on UP Stage's first production of the 2000-2001 season, Robert Fulghum's "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten," Oct. 20-22 in the Union Pines High School auditorium. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children under 12 and tickets are available from any Union Pines High School theater arts student.
"All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" was conceived and adapted from Robert Fulghum's collections of essays by Ernest Zulia and David Caldwell. This production features the performances of both advanced theater arts classes at Union Pines High School. Performances are 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. UP Stage will present one-act plays on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. UP Stage is also pleased to announce that they will present the musical "Guys and Dolls," March 2-4.
This project is supported by the Arts Council of Moore County with funds from the Grassroots Arts Program of the NC Arts Council, a state agency.
Holly Arts and Crafts Festival This Weekend
The 22nd Annual Holly Arts and Crafts Festival is Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 .am.-4 p.m. in Pinehurst Village. The event will take place rain or shine and is presented by the Village of Pinehurst Business Guild. In conjunction with the event is the FirstHealth Center for Rehabilitation 5K Fun Run/Walk with registration at 9 a.m.
Proceeds from the fun run and walk will support the hospital’s rehab scholarship fund.
Lake Eerie Halloween Night
On Thursday, Oct. 26 is the date for a night of free Halloween fun at Lake Luke Marion on Pinehurst Avenue in Carthage.
The Moore County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring "an enchanted stroll” around Lake Eerie." The fitness trail around the lake at the Moore County Office Park will be trans-formed into a glowing tribute through the use of luminaries and jack-o-lanterns. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with all types of activities for a fun and safe Halloween. Popcorn, apple cider, and juice will be available for refreshments along with all kinds of candy and sweets. The evening will conclude with a flashlight egg hunt which will begin at 7:30 p.m. All children planning to participate should bring a flashlight to help them search for the "lucky egg."
Black Stallion Screening Will Benefit the MCEE Response Unit
The classic horse movie “The Black Stallion” sponsored by McBrayer Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep will play at the Sunrise Theater, Wednesday, Nov. 1 and Thursday, Nov. 2, 4 and 7:30 p.m. to benefit the Moore County Equine Emergency Response Unit and the Dave Woodward Farrier Truck Lift Fund.
