Registration for the county youth basketball leagues will be held today at various schools in the area.

The Moore County Parks and Recreation Department are offering the leagues, for youth between 5 and 12.

A representative from the department will be at the following school gyms Monday between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.: Academy Heights, Cameron, Carthage, Farm Life, High Falls, Elise, Vass, West End and Westmoore.

If unable to register on Oct. 16, registration forms will be available at the recreation office. The cost is $15 for a resident of the county; $25 for non-residents. Deadline for registration is Oct. 20. After Oct. 20, registration will be based on space available and will cost $25.

The age cutoff for the leagues is Oct. 16, 2000. Players must be 5, but cannot turn 13, by this date.

There will be mixed leagues (boys and girls) for 5-6 and 7-8. There will be separate leagues for girls and boys at 9-10-year-old and 11-12-year-old.
