A grocery bag with a list of items that are needed was included in the Sunday, Nov. 21, edition of The Pilot. Local donations can be dropped off at Hagan & Hagan GMAC Real Estate at 595 N.C. 5 in Pinehurst and at the Sandhills Food Bank warehouse at 195 Sandy Lane off Pinehurst Avenue in Southern Pines on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The most needed nonperishable items are canned fruits, vegetables, tuna, salmon, and soups; cereal; diapers; infant formula; personal hygiene items; pasta and sauces; rice; dried beans; and 100 percent juices.
The Sandhills Food Bank in Southern Pines is one of the five branches of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. The local Food Bank serves 105 nonprofit agencies in Moore, Lee, Richmond and Scotland counties.
