The members of New Zion AME Zion Church welcome their new pastor, Clifton Willis Edwards Jr., to the community on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m.
Berkley High School will hold a reunion July 1-4 at the Holiday Inn with the theme “Meet My Offspring.” The chairperson is Leatha Utley Ferebee, who encourages everyone to bring children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The community was saddened to learn of the passing of Grady Lyons on Thursday. His wife and family members are on the prayer list.

Frye’s Chapel will hold regular worship services on the fourth Sunday with Pastor Elder Kent McMillan.
The Baptist Church in Vass held a pre-Thanksgiving service Sunday evening. Several churches came together for the service, and the Union Pines High School choir sang.
Oakridge AME Zion Church held regular worship service on Sunday with Elder Marsh as the host pastor.
Elder Larry C. Frye and Louise Frye were dinner guests at the home of Jeri McLeod last Wednesday evening. James E. Frye of Southern Pines visited his mother, Louise Frye, last Sunday.
Maggie McCrimmon and Katie Chisolm visited Kimina Chisolm dinner at her new home in Greensboro last Sunday. Kimina is continuing at A&I University in pursuit of her master’s degree in engineering.

The community extends its sympathy to the Bush and Dull families on the death of Jim Bush who passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
The funeral and burial services were held on Thursday with military honors at Mount Pleasant Church and cemetery.

Annie Page spent two weeks in California and Oregon visiting relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Tim Pilgrim honored their one-year-old granddaughter, Abigail English, with a birthday party for her first birthday on Sunday at their home.

Paul Ray called home to let his parents know when to expect him for Thanksgiving.
Bobby Lester called John and Irene Ray to check on them this weekend as always. He and his family are doing well.
Frances Ray and Irene Ray are doing better after bouts with cold.
Irene was unable to attend all of their recent pastor’s activities, but she did go to his banquet, which was held in the youth building of the church The members want to thank all who made it a success, a spokesman says.
Walter is out of the hospital and is more relaxed. He is staying awhile with his parents, John and Irene Ray.
Don’t forget about the Thanksgiving dinner to be hosted by Synagogue of Christ where Bishop Lynn Kiniel is pastor. The dinner will be held at the senior citizen’s building at Jackson Terrace in Carthage.
