“Fish and visitors smell in three days,” Ben Franklin said. But don’t despair this holiday season. The Convention and Visitors Bureau, Muirfield Broadcasting and The Pilot have cooked up a plan to preserve your privacy and sanity. It’s called “We’ve Got Room at the Inn.”

Just about every hostelry in the county has dramatically discounted its regular rates for local residents to house out-of-town family and friends. Or you can leave the in-laws at home with the kids and pets while you relax in the quiet confines of our fine area hotels.

To help the local hospitality industry in the wake of 9/11, the newspaper and radio station approached the CVB with this plan. The two media companies have donated advertising to the cause and the tourism agency handles all the logistics.
