Pilot Has Joined The Elite Media
The Pilot editorial board has officially joined the ranks of the elite media. As shown by your recent election predictions, your views reflect little in common with the 60-plus percent of the voting citizens of Moore County, the state of North Carolina or the nation. I’m sure that you will fail to recognize this obvious fact, so let’s have a scorecard comparison “on the record” to help you the editors recognize this disconnect.
The editorial board’s election prediction record was five wins and five losses. The wins include Easley, Coble, Lea, McKenzie and Cunningham. It’s important to note the editors failed to predict the winners (Bush, Burr, Blake, Clack and Farren) of the major races that truly affect our county (school board), state (senator/exception Gov. Easley), and nation (senator/president). For the record’s sake, this Moore County family had an actual 9-1 voting record, losing in concert with the county as a whole on the Ballantine vote.
It’s time for an editorial board change at The Pilot. Report the news, skip the liberal elite analysis, reflect the views, opinions, and interests of Moore County. Finally, skip future election predictions; your credibility will only continue to suffer.

Editor’s Note: The writer apparently refers to The Pilot’s endorsement editorials, which appeared Oct. 20-29. Endorsements are not “predictions” but recommendations. The Pilot actually endorsed 11 candidates (five Democrats, three Republicans and three nonpartisan), of which six won. Reader Moore left Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue off the list. |
