Funaro has appeared throughout the United States, Australia and Europe as a harpsichord soloist and chamber player in programs ranging from performances on period instruments to concerts of contemporary works. She is one of the leading performers of new music for the harpsichord.
As past president of the Southeastern Historical Keyboard Society and director of the Aliénor Harpsichord Composition Competition, Funaro has always sought involvement in the broader keyboard community.
She has appeared at festivals in Amherst, Amsterdam, Berkeley, Bloomington, Boston, Breckenridge, Charleston and Iowa, as well as solo recitals at the Smithsonian Institution, Library of Congress, and Spivey Hall in Atlanta. Funaro studied at Oberlin College, the New England Conservatory of Music, Il Conservatorio Cherubini in Florence, Italy, and the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Her teachers include Gustav Leonhardt, Tom Koopman, John Gibbons and Lisa Crawford. She has solo recordings on the Gasparo, Wildboar and Centaur labels.
“I enjoy playing music from many centuries and combining them into one cohesive program,” says Funaro.
