Advice to Board

After reading the results of the Moore County school board election, I have come to a few conclusions, and three rules for board members to live by.

As a school board member, you must never violate the public trust. There should never be even a suspected misuse of public funds on your watch. There should never be an abuse of the power which was given to you when you were elected.

I think the incumbents who were defeated Tuesday by a landslide vote somewhere along the way forgot those prudent rules. For those said incumbents, you would do well to remember those rules mentioned above before signing a contract with M.B. Kahn. You still have a chance to make one final good decision by leaving any negotiations involving M.B. Kahn up to the new school board. The voters have sent in four new players and the ball is in their court now, so please let them run with it.

Congratulations to Kathy Farren, Lorna Clack, Bruce Cunningham and Joe Vaughn, our newly-elected school board members.
