Dragons Win Title In Baseball

The Southern Middle School baseball team claimed the unofficial county middle school championship on Monday.

The Dragons claimed the championship with a hard fought 2-1 victory over the second-place squad from High Falls.

Southern Middle finished the season with a 9-1 record.

Nathan Black and Matt Forbis combined on a three-hitter for Southern Middle. The Southern Middle offense was provided by a fourth inning two-run home run by Blade Shoop over the center field fence with Nathan Black aboard.

The last inning saw home team High Falls load the bases with one out, but nifty defensive plays by Southern Middle shortstop Dana Parziale and third baseman Joe Hebert preserved the victory.
