Blue Fire Win USSSA Softball Tourney
The 16U Blue Fire softball team traveled to Yadkin County to participate in the USSSA Spring Challenge Tournament held recently, and returned home with a championship.
Blue Fire won its first game, against the Carolina Bulldogs and lost its second game to the Spartans, a varsity team from Yadkin County on the first day of the event. Blue Fire came back the next day knowing that it had not played its best on Saturday, according to coach Rob Martin, and responded by defeating the Spartans in extra innings and going on to defeat the Bulldogs. This tournament win was the second for the team this season. The team is made up of players from Moore and Montgomery counties. After the tournament director handed out individual trophies, the team trophy was presented. Martin asked James Demyan of Demyan Roofing Company to come forward. Demyan was presented the trophy.
