Chamber to Conduct Government Affairs Training

The Moore County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to conduct a Government Affairs Training (GoAct) for the local business community.

This training will be conducted by Moore Hallmark, director of the Southeast Region for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The primary purpose of the seminar is to assist the business community on becoming more legislatively savvy.

“The GoAct training teaches business owners how and why one should become involved in government affairs and the four steps to a successful Govern-ment Affairs Program,” said Cynthia Bradley, interim president of the Moore County Chamber of Commerce. “This is an excellent opportunity for the business community to hear from a top-notch speaker. We encourage the business community to attend this training seminar and learn how governmental affairs can affect a businesses bottom line.

“GoAct includes a visually enhanced instruction, handouts, specific examples from successful programs and sample policy positions drawn from respected, legislatively active Chambers of Commerce around the country. ”

The purpose of the GoAct program is to provide the business community with training in effective issue advocacy and help to establish or strengthen programs in government affairs and political action at the local, state and federal levels.

Successful chambers are those with strong programs in government affairs, advocacy and political action.

Businesses are increasingly targeted by intrusive regulations and burdensome tax loads, the Chamber said.

It is the responsibility of chambers to serve as the voice of business and to influence public policy to improve the business climate and strengthen the economy.

The GoAct training will be held on Monday, June 12, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Moore County Chamber of Commerce in Southern Pines.

The fee is $15 fee, which includes lunch.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact the Chamber at 692-3926 or by e-mail to Carol Geerdes at cgeerdes@ncrrbiz.com.
