By Caroline Kornegay: Staff Writer A former Union Pines High School attendance officer and girls’ basketball coach was dismissed from his job Tuesday stemming from charges dating back to February. School resource officers arrested Carlton Kenneth “Ken” Wrencher, 39, Monday for a felony count of possession with intent to sell/deliver a controlled substance and a felony count of possession of a controlled substance within 300 feet of school property. His first appearance in District Criminal Court in Carthage is scheduled for May 24. Wrencher was found with eight rolled marijuana cigarettes and three roaches at the time of the arrest, according to police reports. He allegedly provided a malt beverage and marijuana to a 16-year-old girl Feb. 5, leading to two counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Wrencher could not be reached for comment.
