Pinehurst Garden Club Holds Final Meeting of 2004-2005

The Pinehurst Garden Club met in the Member’s Club for the final meeting of the year.

Mac Hulshander presented a program on Japanese gardening. While a missionary in Japan he studied the native culture including the details found in gardens. He is a certified plant professional and proprietor of Woodlander Landscapes in Raleigh. He is preparing the site for the new Japanese garden at Sandhills Community College Horticultural Gardens scheduled for competition in July.

The program demonstrates ways to incorporate Eastern concepts into Western gardens. Suggested ideas included using boulders and rocks for basic structure, stepping stone pathways, lanterns as furnishings, stone and cedar benches, water for sound and movement.
